In these pictures of a Rock Purslane (Calandrinia Grandiflora) flower just how bright pink a desert plant can be. People think of deserts as dry, brown, dead areas and they are so wrong!
These flowers are on stems over a foot long as the plant itself is low to the ground and not really anything special to see. But, the flowers make up for what it lacks in the “pretty plant” area.
Very drought tolerant and loves the sun…the flowers look neon when the sun hits them. They make very colorful ground cover when they bloom!
I took these pictures in Henderson, Nevada where they have plenty of heat and sun!
